Bulking Up for the Winter
Summer is a great season for the propane industry. Demands from home heat fall when temperatures rise, and customers begin thinking about outdoor activities rather than staying huddled up inside. For Palmetto Propane, spring and summer weather gives us the opportunity to continue looking forward.
In the spring, summer and early fall seasons, Palmetto Propane is hard at work preparing ourselves for the next big winter season. The leadership team meets after the conclusion of every cold season and discusses the successes and missteps of the company and works together to figure how to make Palmetto Propane more efficient come next year. This could come in forms of internal process adjustments, adding new vehicles to the fleet to service more areas, implementing new features or tools for workflows or simplifying customer paperwork.
For the 2021-2022 cold season, Palmetto Propane focused on what it would take to make customer deliveries easier and improve back office efficiencies. This meant massive account-data cleanup initiatives, a complete propane delivery zoning rewrite for customer tanks, increase of delivery capacity with new trucks, expansion for the service team with more technicians and onboarding of new customer tools for account related information.
Another way Palmetto Propane is preparing for this year’s coming cold weather is by pre-filling certain customer tanks. We are making sure that customers that only use propane for home heat or hot water and topped off and filled BEFORE the temperature starts to drop. This allows us to have a head start on the increase call volume and ensures that we can make it to every customer’s tank in a timely manner.
This year is shaping up to be a record breaking cold winter for the Midlands and CSRA and we want to assure our customers that we are there for them. Every winter presents it’s own challenges and Palmetto Propane has worked tirelessly to make sure the winter is as painless as possible for our customers and employees.
